November 2018: Heather Malloy


What is your favorite thing or things to do when you're not at CFS? 

Fish, lift weights, read, eat nachos washed down with a few glasses of wine. Vote.

What made you want to start CrossFit? 

After finally getting over a year long shoulder injury, I wanted to get back to doing strength-based workouts.

What motivates you through a tough WOD? 

I enjoy working out hard. It’s my main hobby, so finding motivation is not always necessary. I just show up and do it.

What is your favorite motivational quote? 

Oh dear, I’m not a motivational quote kind of girl. I just suck it up and get shit done.

What is some advice you'd give to someone new to CrossFit Skunk or just started CrossFit? 

Don’t half-ass it. Do it right, do it hard, do it heavy. But maybe be a little smarter than me and try not to hurt yourself.

What is something you've done at CFS that you never thought you'd do? 

Handstand push ups

What are your CrossFit goals? 

I’m still working on that. Mostly I enjoy the process of working out and getting better.

What is your most favorite or least favorite movement? 

Least: Running. Unless you give me a t-shirt or a medal at the end of it (preferably both). I’ll do it without a medal or t-shirt, because it’s good for me, but I won’t like it.

Most: Picking up heavy things.

What is your biggest accomplishment since starting CrossFit? 

I got a lot of my strength back. It sucks to have mushy noodle arms.

What have you learned since joining CrossFit Skunk?

That you have to take ownership of your own progress. And that working out with friends is always better than sitting sad and lonely on the machines at the local big box gym.
